Recital Information

Classes will resume Tuesday, April 22.

COSTUME LINE-UP WEEK
Since this is not a full dress costume year and the accessories rarely require any major alterations that need to be inspected, there will be no official costume line-up. 2706  Unless you have a question about them, do not bring your costume accessories back to the studio.  Remember, put your name in everything.

DRESS REHEARSAL
Saturday, May 17 - 9:00 am     (Be there at 8:30 am)
 Lutcher Theater

This will be a full dress rehearsal complete with costumes, proper legwear, shoes and hair.  All dancers must be at rehearsal.  If you miss rehearsal, you will not dance in either performance.  EVERYONE must be at the theater READY TO BEGIN at 9:00 am.  By arriving at the theater by 8:30 am you should have plenty of time to find your dressing room, get dressed for your first dance and then be seated in the audience to await further instruction  (this is the ONLY time you are allowed in the audience in your costume).

RECITAL
Saturday, May 17 - 7:00 pm   (Be there at 6:00 pm)
Sunday, May 18 - 2:00 pm   (Be there at 1:00 pm)
 Lutcher Theater

1. Please be at the theater by the above times.  DRESS AT THE THEATER, do not wear your costumes to the theater.    Hair MUST be in a bun for all ballet and pointe classes (No french braids for ballet or pointe, but you may    wear them for other dances). 3694 You may apply makeup at home, however, someone will be available at the   theater to apply it for you if you like.

2. NO JEWELRY ONSTAGE!    NO GUM ONSTAGE!    NO PANTIES UNDER YOUR COSTUME!
NO HAIRPIECES ONSTAGE OTHER THAN WHAT YOU WERE GIVEN OR TOLD TO WEAR WITH YOUR COSTUME!

3.   Everyone in Act I must be backstage and ready to go on before the recital begins.
Everyone in Act II must be backstage and ready to go on before intermission is over.
Please line up in the wings two (2) numbers ahead of time.

4. Dancers may leave after finishing all of their dances and after changing into street clothes.  NO COSTUMES IN   THE AUDIENCE OR OUTSIDE.

5. Only dancers and people helping to dress dancers will be allowed backstage during the performance.  Visitors are   welcome backstage after the performance is over.

BACKSTAGE BEHAVIOR
Everyone backstage and in the dressing rooms during rehearsal and performances must remain calm and quiet at all times.  Children who are overexcited do not perform well and noise does carry from the backstage area into all other parts of the theater.  Nothing is more distracting to the dancers onstage and the audience than commotion backstage.  All parents and older students are asked to please help keep the backstage area and dressing rooms as calm and quiet as possible. 0043 Games that make no noise and other "keep busy" items are recommended and a large video monitor is available backstage where parents and students may sit and watch the recital live.
The Lutcher Theater does not allow food or drink backstage.

VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHS
King's Way Video will be videotaping recital this year.  They will be taking orders for videos of this year's recital, as well as past recitals, during rehearsal and during both performances.  You may videotape recital yourself as long as you REMAIN SEATED and DO NOT use tripods or extension cords.

Gunn's Photography will be available backstage during rehearsal to take photos of dancers in costume.
They are offering special package deals.  Flyers with the details will be available at the studio.

With concern for the concentration and safety of the dancers onstage, flash photography is strictly forbidden during the performances.

TICKETS
Tickets for recital will be given out  Saturday, April 26 from  1:00* pm to 3:00 pm  at the studio.  Each family will receive a total of twelve (12) tickets randomly drawn in sets of four (4) downstairs and two (2) upstairs for Saturday,  and four (4) downstairs and two (2) upstairs for Sunday.  Some extra tickets will be available in the upper balcony for both performances.  Please call Jeanette Boehme at 883-4021 anytime before recital or ask for them at the door.  If you find that you have more tickets than you plan on using, please return the extras to the studio anytime before the recital or return them at the theater door.

Before coming to pick up your tickets, please give some consideration to the following questions:

  1.  "Wheelchair  space"  -  will you need space for someone to sit in a wheelchair?    Which day?

  2.  "Lap tickets"  -  will you be holding a baby or small child on your lap?    How many?    Which day?

If you have any questions concerning tickets, please call Jeanette Boehme at 883-4021.  If no answer, please leave a message.  Your call will be returned.

   * Because the tickets will be drawn randomly by you, there is no need to come early and line up to be "the first"  to draw.  The last person to draw is just as likely to get the best tickets as the first person is and everybody is guaranteed the same amount of tickets downstairs and upstairs for each performance.

If you are unable to  pick up your tickets at this time,  you may make arrangements for someone other than yourself to pick up your tickets.  If no one comes for your tickets, your downstairs tickets only will be drawn for you and placed in an envelope at the studio where you may pick them up at any time during normal studio hours. 0494 If no one comes for your tickets, upstairs tickets will not be drawn for you unless you call and request them.

PROGRAM PROOFING
A draft copy of the program will be posted at the studio.  Please check your name for the correct spelling and placement.  Let someone know immediately if there is a mistake.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARDS
Perfect Attendance Awards will be handed out in class the week of  May 12 - 16.   Parents are welcome to come into the studio and take photos if they wish.  A list of students receiving awards will be posted at the studio.
